Volunteers are one of the biggest resources at Growing Gardeners. We have a voluntary Board of Directors and we welcome and value individuals who can support the values and mission of Growing Gardeners, projects being delivered, and people we serve within volunteer capacity.
Your services, skills, experience and time can be used in a variety of roles from administration working “hands on” in numerous ways.
Volunteering is personally rewarding in a number of ways. Everyone has their own personal motivation. For some, they want to be doing something and to give back to their community, for others they want to make a difference. For others, it’s the opportunity to do something challenging and rewarding while gaining more or new experiences and/or building up their ‘soft skills’ such as teamworking, problem-solving, communication and motivation.
Carrying out and being committed to voluntary work also helps give you material for your CV, gives you more work experience to talk about at interviews and may assist in bringing some of your experience up to date, perhaps if you are returning to the workplace after a break. Volunteering can:
- Helps develop your CV
- Assists in boosting your confidence
- Boosts soft skills
- Provides opportunities to learn new skills
- May gain a reference to take to employers if required
