When we lose a loved one, we want to show that they are still thought about and cared for in their final resting place.
For some people tending a grave is not, for whatever reason, always possible: time, distance, the location of the burial place. It may be the case that family members and friends live on another continent but still want their loved one’s space to be maintained and cared for on a regular basis.
If you want a grave or memorial maintained by us – within Edinburgh and the Lothians – we need to check its current condition and location before we can do it. Please get in touch with us and tell us the location of the grave or memorial, and the name of the deceased. We will send you a form to complete. If you live in Midlothian, general maintenance is carried out by your local council.
What can we help with?
- Cutting and upkeep of any grass.
- Weeding and tending live plants.
- Replacement of gravel chippings.
- Memorial cleaning – cold wash (if intact and does not require the work of a stone mason).
- Planting and plant up keeping (please check or your Deed of Grant).
- Delivering fresh grave flowers and wreaths.
We will visit the space and send you pictures if required.
If work is needed by a stonemason before we can maintain the burial plot, we will send you this information. The stonemason will charge you extra money for this deep clean. The cost of cleaning your memorial will depend on the size, age and amount of work needed.
